MALVERN,
PENNSYLVANIA - February 8, 2002 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc.
(NYSE: VSH) today announced the release of a series of thin-film
rectangular chip resistors that features the industry’s
broadest range of sizes, value ranges, and tolerances.
Vishay’s TNPW
series of nichrome thin-film semi-precision chip resistors is
ideal for a wide range of applications requiring excellent stability,
tight tolerances, and low TCR, including circuitry for navigation
and avionics instrumentation, medical equipment, test equipment,
automotive instrumentation, and telecommunications systems.
Features of the TNPW
resistor family include very low electrical noise, tolerances
as low as 0.1%, and TCR values ranging from 150 ppm/°C to
as low as 15 ppm/°C. Standard resistance values range from
10 Ω to 1 MΩ. Case construction is high-quality ceramic
with a metal film layer and a protective topcoat, with tin-lead
(SnPb) contacts on a nickel (Ni) barrier layer.
Because Vishay’s TNPW
resistors are less costly than tantalum nitride thin-film solutions,
designers are able to incorporate thin-film resistor technology
into a wider variety of applications and end products. Vishay’s
wide selection of custom case sizes and extended values also means
more product is available at any given time, thus reducing time-to-market
for end-product manufacturers. In addition to industry-standard
sizes, including 0402, 0603, 0805, 1206, and 1210, extended values
are available upon request, enabling designers to enhance product
performance at minimal cost.
The TNPW series
of resistors provides excellent stability under both normal and
harsh environmental conditions. Unlike competing nichrome thin-film
resistors, which may be susceptible to corrosion under certain
conditions, devices in the TNPW
family of resistors are impervious to moisture. TNPW resistors
conform to CECC4000 / 40400 / 40401-801, EN140400 / IEC 60115-1,
and EIA 575 standards.
