Vishay’s range of high-reliability products reflects a long-term commitment to our military and aerospace customers. As one of the largest suppliers of military components, we continually strive to meet the changing application requirements of the defense market by developing new products and manufacturing technologies on an ongoing basis.

Vishay has one of the broadest lines of military-qualified resistors, capacitors, and inductors in the industry, and our hi-rel devices can be found in nearly every existing military and aerospace program, including aircraft, satellites, missiles, weapons, ground vehicles, and ships. Our precision potentiometers have been used for over 20 years in three different missile programs and are also used in passenger jets.

Tantalum Capacitors

When there is a need for high capacitance and/or high voltage under demanding environmental conditions, tantalum capacitors are often the solution. We have the largest selection in the industry to choose from for any application, from solid to wet, and in hermetically sealed, molded, and conformal-coated packages, with surface-mountable terminations in several finishes including tin-lead. Specific styles are rated from 4 V to 150 V, with an operating range from –55 ºC to +200 ºC.

Recent additions to Vishay’s military-grade tantalum portfolio include the HE3, which combines the company’s proven SuperTan® hybrid cathode technology with industry-leading anode designs. Features include a unique double seal for improved reliability, a capacitance range of 3300 µF to 72000 µF, and a low ESR of 0.035 Ω at 25 °C and 1 kHz. Vishay has likewise recently extended its TANTAMOUNT® Hi-Rel COTS T97 series to offer the industry’s first solid tantalum chip capacitor with a 63-V rating to meet derating requirements in +28-V power supply designs, and has introduced a CECC 30202-approved series (735D et al) of wet tantalum capacitors for aerospace applications.

Wirewound Resistors

As the world’s top provider of many kinds of resistors, Vishay plays a significant role in the development of military and aerospace electronics. Our massive inventory of fixed linear resistors includes important components in cockpit equipment, GPS navigation, radar and sonar units, radio and satellite communications, and weapons including missiles and torpedoes.

Vishay offers a number of standard wirewound resistors that meet military specifications, including MIL-PRF-18546 (RE resistor in aluminum housing), MIL-PRF-26 (RW resistor with standard leaded axial construction), and MIL-PRF-49465 (RLV resistor for low-ohmic applications). In fact, Vishay is the only DSCC qualified manufacturer for the RLV type. The Vishay wirewound resistor portfolio also includes MIL-PRF-39009-qualified, aluminum-housed  RER series, and the MIL-PRF-39007 axial-leaded RWR series, featuring established reliability , and for which Vishay is the only DSCC-qualified
manufacturer.
